Christians recognize Mary as the mother of Jesus and that when she said “Yes” to God, she changed the course of history.  With this selfless act, Mary agreed to bear and give birth to a child both human and divine.  Luke 1:26-38.  And in the dark of a manger, she gave to the world God’s only Son.  Luke 2:7.

Mary had an incredible responsibility to care for and raise Jesus until adulthood.  In Cana, at a wedding, Mary informed Jesus that the host had run out of wine.  Many biblical scholars have interpreted this conversation to be Mary’s indication that it was time for her to let Him go, and that He was to give Himself to the world, starting with the miracle of turning water into wine.  John 2:1-12.

And when the time came for Jesus to be crucified, Mary was there to witness His death.  John 19:25-27.  His resurrection brought full circle the promise the angel of God gave to Mary-that she would give birth to the Savior. 

This song aims to capture this journey from Mary’s perspective.  Through her Pure Love, Mary gave to the world God’s only Son.
